Eid & Moon sighting :
Eid or any Islamic month is decided with the sighting of the moon. The timing of the months in the Islamic calendar is based on astronomical observation.
It may be possible that the appearance of the moon be sighted few hours after it has crossed the Indian subcontinent.
It is necessary for sighting of the moon on 29th for the new month to begin or else it is taken as a 30 days month.
Since the duration of gulf and western nation's falls behind by few hours and in this duration moon maybe sighted they decide accordingly whether it is related to Eid or Days of the month.
Also if the Moon isn't sighted in the subcontinent it extends to another day.
A new month can only begin after a Waxing Crescent Moon is observed shortly after sunset. The Waxing Crescent Moon is the Moon phase which starts right after a New Moon. The traditional version of the Islamic calendar requires an authorized person or committee to make an actual sighting of the Crescent Moon to determine the length of each month.
This dependence on astronomical observations makes it difficult to predict the length of Islamic months.
Clouds and other adverse atmospheric conditions can obscure an otherwise visible Crescent Moon. When this happens, the new month will begin a day later, at short notice. A new month may also begin on different days in different countries. Because the time of moonset at a location depends on its longitude, a new month and Ramadan fast may begin a day earlier/later in different countries
Islamic months and festivals are observed in accordance with the moon sighting. Some countries do them by actually sighting the moon and some have set the standard to observe them it with authentic call of moon sighting.
Bangladesh, Pakistan, Indoneshia are muslim majority countries while India has very large number muslims so they (facilitated by their government) actually do this by moon sighting. While China is a comminist country so they do them woth KSA.
