Turkey officials vital efforts resulted in the prime suspect, identified as 23-year-old Syrian national Ahlam Albashir's, arrest, and 46 suspects detention, in the Sunday bombing in Istanbul's famous Istiklal Avenue.

The main accused admitted during interrogation that she planted the bomb, entered Türkiye illegally from Syria's Afrin, police said. She had taken orders from the PKK/YPG terrorist organization's headquarters in Ayn al Arab in northern Syria, the Istanbul General Security Directorate said in a statement on Monday: reported by trtworld.com

Istanbul police released a statement on Twitter, in which it said, a total of 46 suspects were detained after police carried out operations at 21 addresses after inspecting footage from 1,200 security cameras.

Suleyman Soylu (Turkish Interior Minister):

"If we had not caught the perpetrators (of the bomb attack in Istanbul), they would have fled to Greece today."

Turkey Istanbul, 14th of November: The famous tourist destination and the most populated city of Turkey, Istanbul was terrorized by vicious explosion that left at least 6 people dead and 81 others injured.

A video surfaced online which shows a heavy explosion on the packed Istiklal street, which is in the heart of Istanbul, the area is a famous tourist point and was crowded as usual at the weekend with shoppers, tourists, and families. Here's the video footage of the explosion:

What is PKK?:

The Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) is an outlawed political organization with militant armed faction, guerrilla movement, PKK historically operated throughout Kurdistan, but is now primarily based in the mountainous Kurdish-majority regions of southeastern Turkey and northern Iraq.

PKK was responsible for terrorist bombing in Turkey in 2015 as well, Turkey is fighting and running the operation against PKK since 30 years now, in order to neutralize the group.

Around 40,000 Turkish citizens have lost their lives during this operation till the date.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said:

Erdoğan hinted the explosion might be a “terrorist attack” and pledged that its perpetrators would be punished.

“Our people can rest assured that the culprits behind the attack will be punished as they deserve,” he said at a press conference, adding that initial information suggested “a woman played a part” in it.

“It would be wrong to say this is undoubtedly a terrorist attack, but the initial developments and initial intelligence from my governor is that it smells like terrorism,” Erdoğan said.

Four people died at the scene and two died in the hospital, Erdoğan said.

Vice President Fuat Oktay also said it appeared to be a “terrorist attack.”, Istanbul Governor Ali Yerlikaya earlier said the explosion occurred at about 4:20pm (13:20 GMT) on Sunday: according to a report by aljazeera.com

International community:

International community condemns the Istanbul blast, including Pakistan Prime Minister, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) foreign ministry, Indian Ministry of external affairs, Ukraine's president, NATO secretary general, President of European council were among who condemn the blast, and shared concerns.
