Twitter entering dark days? Twitter limits how many tweets a user can read in a day.

Elon Musk made yet another change on how many Tweets you and us can see in a day, here's what he Tweeted (third Tweet) yesterday:

After a massive public backlash, Twitter owner Elon Musk backtracks on his infamous pledge to “limit” Twitter users ability to see content on Twitter per day.

Now, Elon Musk says that the “rate limits” will be “increasing soon to 8,000 for verified accounts and 800 for unverified accounts.”

Twitter which was bought by Elon Musk (world richest person) for whooping $44 billion, looks to sell as much “subscription” as he can (maybe to earn the investment back at least), with series of “anti-public” decisions the Twitter seems like its dark days are inevitable.

Twitter owner Elon Musk tweeted today: "To address extreme levels of data scraping & system manipulation, we’ve applied the following temporary limits: - Verified accounts are limited to reading 6000 posts/day - Unverified accounts to 600 posts/day - New unverified accounts to 300/day."

Elon Musk says limitations have been added to avoid "manipulation of the system".

There was a 65% drop in ad revenues between October 2022 and January 2023 and traffic saw a decline of 7.7% in March 2023 compared to the year before.

• Users who consume their daily "reading quota" are reporting 'rate limited exceeded' and/or 'cannot retrieve tweets' error messages.

First some users on Twitter thought that they were seeing the message due to the platform being down, but latter it was made cleared by the official Tweet by Musk that it was a limitation which was taking effect, not a glitch.

• 'Reading' tweet is defined as any tweet user 'views' on his timeline, not necessarily clicking on it.

That's poor if you ask a tech enthusiast, Twitter being a platform “championing” free speech and then on the other hand, just restricting how much a free speech be read, or written.

Twitter, which was founded in 2006, is one of the major social media platform which plays key role in world's political interests. Politicians, political parties, and certainly most of the organization, powers use the platform to communicate with the masses. Twitter also serve as good news source.

Twitter is struggling to keep up with the increased competition. The platform brings fewer revenues “as in economic terms”.

The platform also has a controversial history as it has been accused of playing a part in rigging elections, bias, running agendas, deliberately allowing hateful, violence causing content from certain parts of the society, and much more than that.

Elon Musk has made sweeping changes to the platform since acquiring it, like blue tick subscription with $8/month or $84/year, and increased amount of advertisements. One major change made by musk was the job cut in order to cut the spendings. Musk made the remaining employees work harder and longer in order to deliver on his ambitions, like adding features, to maintain the platform.
