UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson Resigns;

Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson was born on 19 June 1964 on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, New York City.

• Johnson started out as a reporter before becoming mayor of London, foreign secretary and eventually prime minister.

• Boris is the current leader of the Conservative Party, since 2019.

• Boris previously held Mayor position in London, from 2008 to 2016.

Amid growing anti incumbency among the people of the UK, and among his own party members, the UK prime minister has finally resigned from the office.

A strong party rebellion caused the resignation of Boris along with several high-level officials resign.

Boris has been in the news for a long time for his a series of scandals, and for various other unpleasant reasons.

Boris has ever been heavily criticized for his policies and stands on various political scenarios.

Boris Johnson says he has appointed new Cabinet while he remains as UK prime minister until a successor is chosen.

The opposition Labour Party will call a parliamentary no confidence vote in Johnson’s government if his Conservative Party decides not get rid of him as leader, Labour Party chief Starmer has said.

“His own party have finally concluded that he’s unfit to be prime minister,” Starmer said. “If they don’t get rid of him, then Labour will step up in the national interest and bring a vote of no confidence because we can’t go on with this prime minister clinging on for months and months to come.” Aljazeera reported.

Foreign secretary Liz Truss, former foreign secretary Jeremy Hunt, Defence minister Ben Wallace are all considered contenders, as are former finance minister Rishi Sunak and former health minister Sajid Javid, who both resigned in protest over Johnson’s conduct.

The process to pick new prime minister is expected to take about two to three months or so, as Boris is currently incharge of the office, and he is not likely to be taken out instantly.

The official statement from Kremlin says it hopes “more professional people” would come to power in Britain following Johnson.

“We would like to hope that some day in Great Britain more professional people who can make decisions through dialogue will come to power,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said. “But at the moment there is little hope for that.”

He added: “He (Johnson) doesn’t like us, we don’t like him either”.
