Syria rebel forces led by the Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) are circling the Damascus. Reports surface claiming the Assad regime may close to topple after 13 years of conflict in Syria.
Assad government may fall shortly, the HTS rebels have reached at the outskirts of Damascus the Syrian capital, Bashar al-Assad has been ruling the war torn country for 24 years.
Before Assad, his father Hafez al-Assad used to rule the country, he himself was involved in crushing many rebellion movements. The Assad family has ruled the Syria for around half of the century.
The Syrian rebellion against government once again flared in 2011, and it's been more than 13 years since Bashar al-Assad's security forces opened fire on protesters demanding democratic reforms.
In the March 2011, thousands of Syrians took to the streets protesting and demanding reforms in the government policies. The peaceful anti-government protests soon took the armed conflict after Assad ordered use of power to quell the protests.
In 2017 with the help of Russia and Iran's proxies Hezbollah and other militias, Syrian army took control of most of the countries main cities.
While areas bordering Turkey and Iraq were in control of other parties involved, namely HTS and other rebel groups. SDF/YPK/PKK, FSA forces which are supported and backed by the United States.
Some parts were in control of Daesh, Southern Operation Room FSA. Golan Heights of Syria has also been occupied by Israel since 1967, which in December 1981 Israel unilaterally annexed from Syria.

The protest which turned into armed conflict has been going on for more than 13 years now, it since has left more than half a million people have been killed. Millions 13 million plus displaced and more than 7.2 million Syrians remain internally displaced according to various reports.
Syrian conflict has led become a battleground and sort of place for infamous proxy wars of the most powerful countries, including the US, Russia, Iran, Turkey, and many others have been involved in the conflict since 2011.
Now the Syrians are looking to mostly welcome the rebels advancing with reports of fewer resistance from army, and local celebrating in the cities across Syria, according to news reports.
It remains to be seen how long till the Assad government remain in the power in Syria, as rebels are at the gates of the capital Damascus.

Who is HTS?
HTS or Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham which means Organization for the Liberation of the Levant is a coalition of northern Syria-based Sunni rebel groups, which has fighters from mostly Syria itself, with a report suggesting 15,000 local fighters.
HTS controls Idlib and is estimated to have up to 30,000 fighters and is the largest of the armed opposition groups that routed regime forces from Aleppo, Hama, and Homs.
