Elon Musk took over Twitter in 2022, with the acquisition he had prior plans, to make a platform called “everything app.” This was said by Elon himself, “Twitter was acquired by X Corp both to ensure freedom of speech and as an accelerant for X, the everything app. This is not simply a company renaming itself, but doing the same thing,” he said in a post Monday night.
Acquiring Twitter was part of making the “everything app”, he then changed the name to X resembling the planned app.

The X is Everything App?
Long answer short, it is in making, Yes! So Elon Musk wants to create something similar to WeChat, a popular app in China. Here's a breakdown of the concept.
Everything App, is an app that can be used for every day to day need, like Social networking, making payments, Shopping, browsing products or checking and keeping up with news and information and whatever more imaginable.
Twitter became X what's next?
Elon Musk said “The Twitter name made sense when it was just 140 character messages going back and forth – like birds tweeting – but now you can post almost anything, including several hours of video. In the months to come, we will add comprehensive communications and the ability to conduct your entire financial world. The Twitter name does not make sense in that context, so we must bid adieu to the bird.”
This does not end there, he wants to make the social networking site to become a bigger and greater platform of various services on offer, services which involve, E-commerce, Financial services, Social networking and many more.
Current status of X (formerly Twitter)?
As of now, X is still primarily a social media platform with various features content sharing (including long videos, articles), content monetizing opportunities provider, but yes It is not yet planned everything app.
WeChat vs X:
WeChat is an very popular Chinese app, used mainly in China, it allows services like Messaging, Voice and Video Calls (like WhatsApp or Telegram.), Social Media (Social networking site like Facebook, X), Payment App (a dominant mobile payment system in China, allowing users to make payments in stores, online, and for peer-to-peer transactions.), E-commerce (Shopping, paying), Ride-hailing (booking taxis or carpooling can be integrated within WeChat.), Travel and Booking, Location based services, news and Information, media, and lot's of other mini apps are part of WeChat app.
Whereas X says it has future plan to become the Super App or Everything App.
X currently offers limited functionality like, subscription based earnings, ad revenue monetizing for creators, and acts mainly as a social media platform with large size media (length of several hours) and text sharing capabilities.
The programmers at X are said to be working on introducing more features in the direction of a Super app or an Everything App.
