India is most populated country:
With around 1.4 Billion (141 Crore) people accounting for the Asian country, India took the title of being the most populous country from China in 2023.
The population of India is projected to reach 1.6 billion by 2050, and the age group of 20-50 is expected to make up about 47.5% of the total population. This makes India the place with great potential and with ease of work force, cheap labour, as well as a big consumer based market, for food, infrastructure, tech etc.
Older generation in India accounts for the third-largest group in the country, after the age group of 15-24 and the age group of 25-40.
United Nations concern over world population:
The United Nations has said, warning of more hardship in store for regions already facing resource scarcity because of climate change. “Reaching eight billion people is a sign of human success, but it’s also a great risk for our future,” said John Wilmoth, the director of the UN’s population division.
Middle-income countries, mainly in Asia, accounted for most of the growth, gaining some 700 million people since 2011.
The global population has increased eight-fold since 1800, from an estimated one billion to eight billion, largely due to the development of modern medicine and the industrialisation of agriculture, which boosted global food supplies.
China saw a steady decline in the birth rate as a result of the strict child policies, while India added about 180 million people since 2011.
Problem with birth control policies:
India does not have any policy that limits the birth rate. And it is a good thing to not have such policy in the first place, according to arguments given by many experts, some argument involves case study of the birth control policy implemented by China decades ago.
China is facing the problem of fewer younger generation, as compared to older generation.
China is facing hardship to remain as a place for cheap work force.
Older people tend to work less and slow in comparison to younger people.
Less young people in a country results in slow economy, and declining population posess threats like mental stress (as few young man-women has to take care of the more old people, meaning more stress, work load etc).
Less population results in more competition, when in comes to finding a life partner, or in simple terms getting married, because, more people choose boy over a girl as their only 1 children (option), then this takes us to a ratio of fewer girls as compared to boys, this then creates issues like mental pressure, depression and what not.
Some Indians believe that a childbirth control policy should be placed in the country, similar to what China did decades ago, but they do not understand that China is now suffering from the bad effects of that policy and has removed it completely. They are now encouraging their citizens to have more children.
China is facing young work force scarcity, slow growth and further population decline due to young generation facing difficulties with taking care of themselves as well as their parents, forcing them to have fewer children.
China took the policy back in 2022, and now wants its citizens to have not just 2 kids but 3 kids per couple, to boost population ratio.
China was forced to change its children policy in 2022, and increased the amount of children a couple could have, from 1 to 3, it urged families to have a second and even third child.
Also it limited access to non-medical abortions.
On the other hand, other countries have seen the rapid decline as well in the birth rate, like the United States, European countries, and Japan.
