Samsung is anticipated to introduce its flagship and most popular smartphone line up in early 2026, the S series.

Samsung is poised to set the standard higher with the introduction of the Galaxy S26 series next year, with an expected thinner design and sharper zoom capacity build into the rear camera.

According to reports, the Galaxy S26 series could be significantly thinner, just like the edge version of S25, launched just recently. The flagship device is also expected to pack a sharper 3x telephoto lens.

The base model S26 and higher version S26+ are supposed to get thinner as well, in comparison to S25 and S25+ launched in 2025, with up to 6.x mm thin body. This is significant as S25 was 7.2 mm and S25+ was 7.3 mm.

The reports suggest the camera module in the rear would also get thinner on the entire upcoming Galaxy S series. Samsung is said to be able to achieve this thinner size with the use of something called “silicon-carbon batteries”. These are thinner new batteries.

∙ It is expected that the phones would pack 5500 to 6000 mAh batteries.

∙ The S26 Ultra would get a 12MP 3x telephoto with Bigger sensor, that is up from 10MP 3x telephoto on the S25 Ultra. This upgraded camera module is said to feature on all models of the S26 models.

The main sensor on the S26 base module might get an update done to it, with the same 50MP camera but with a bigger sensor.

• One of the biggest changes we might see in the upcoming S26 series, the introduction of edge model in place of S26+ which might get discontinued.

• The S Pen on the S26 Ultra might also get an update.

• A RAM update is also expected with capacity of 16 GB RAM on the Ultra model, this could be a big update as RAM hasn't been updated since last 4 years on the Ultra model worldwide.

• The titanium body Ultra and Aluminium body base model are expected.

The S26 Ultra is expected to launch with a 6.9-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, delivering vivid colours, incredibly smooth scrolling, and a 144 Hz refresh rate. Samsung S26 might be around 6.5-inch AMOLED.

• On the software front, the Android 16 with One-UI 8.5 and big weigh on AI powered features would dominate the upcoming Galaxy S series.

• The global model might continue with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset instead of Exynos 2600 chip.

The Samsung S26 Ultra might be launched at around $1,299 globally, and the Samsung S26 at around $899.

The Samsung S26 Ultra with 12 GB + 256 GB of storage might start at ₹1,24,999 in India. Depending on availability and model, the more storage-rich version could cost up to ₹159,999.
