Xiaomi has become one of the top automobile maker in China, within a few years, since it established Xiaomi Automobile in March 2021.

Xiaomi was earlier known for its affordable household electronics and cell phones, but the transformation into an automobile giant is phenomenal.

The Xiaomi automobile SU7 (Speed Ultra) Sedan is currently outperforming Tesla and BYD in China, according to the reports. The latest launched YU7 SUV has become a sensation with 200,000 orders in just 3 minutes of launch.

Xiaomi automobile Brief History:

It was established with ¥10 billion (~ US $1.4 billion) investment, it is located in Beijing, within the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone (also known as Beijing ETown.)

The Production is carried out via its own factory (established with a BAIC partnership.)

The company first launch was SU7 Sedan, it was launched in March 2024.

Xiaomi launched its first Electric SUV and second car in June 2025, which has turned out to be a success, with massive orders within the first hour of launch.

It's SU7 Sedan EV is currently outperforming in sales top EV giants like US based Tesla and Chinese home competition BYD.

• The SU7 Pro model comes with a larger battery of 94.3 kWh (~830 km range) at ¥245,900 that is around $33,900 USD.

• SU7 Max has Dual Motor AWD with a range of around 800+ km, it is available at ¥299,900 (~$41,300.)

• SU7 Ultra comes with a range of around 720 km, it is capable of reaching 0-100 km/h in just 2.7 sec. SU7 Ultra costs ¥359,900+ ($49,500+).

In December 2024, Xiaomi India’s CMO confirmed that the company has no plans to bring the SU7 to India yet. He stated the initial focus remains on the Chinese market.

Lei Jun, Xiaomi’s CEO, has suggested the first global rollout may begin by 2027.

With reports of building teams for overseas EV sales, planning small-batch tests in regions including Europe and the Gulf.
