The Vivo V9 Youth was launched in India in April 2018 as a more affordable version of the Vivo V9. It features a 6.3-inch Full HD+ display with a resolution of 1080 × 2280 pixels and a 19:9 aspect ratio. The display also features a notch and Corning Gorilla Glass protection.

The Vivo V9 Youth was launched in India at ₹18,990. It later received a price reduction, with its 4GB RAM and 32GB storage variant reported at a best-buy price of ₹17,990 in June 2018.

The phone is powered by a 1.8GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor and comes with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. Storage can be expanded using a microSD card. Vivo's specifications list support for a microSD card of up to 256GB.

The Vivo V9 Youth has a 3,260mAh non-removable battery and was available in Black and Gold colour options. The phone has a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and supports dual-SIM connectivity.
