Pro Palestine protests in Universities, colleges, in US.

American universities and colleges involved in pro-Palestinian protests after 200 days of Israel Genocide in Gaza and more than 75 years of occupation of Palestine.

The protests in Columbia University in New York last week, has led to widespread protests in the universities around the United States.

Some names include, California State Polytechnic University, Humboldt, UC Berkeley Stanford University, University of New Mexico, Yale University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, University of Minnesota, University of California, Berkeley University of Pittsburgh, University of Rochester in New York, Tufts University, Emerson College, University of Michigan, University of Maryland, University of Southern California, Ohio State University, Emerson College in Massachusetts, Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania, Emory University, Harvard University, Boston University, MIT, The University of Texas at Austin The University of Texas at Arlington The University of Texas at Dallas, Rice University, Northwestern University Ohio, State Universitv University of Michigan, Vanderbilt, UNC Charlotte, UNC Chapel, Hill Princeton University, Georgetown University, George Washington University, American University, UMBC, New York University, Brown University.

The Columbia University protest were aimed at calling on universities to cut financial ties to Israel and divest from companies they say are enabling its brutal war in Gaza.

Israel's war on Gaza has resulted in least 34,262 Palestinians killed since October 7. The onslaught began when Hamas attacked southern Israel, killing 1,139 people and taking dozens of people captive. Hamas attacked in response to atrocities carried out by Israel against Palestinians and its attacks on Masjid al-Aqsa in occupied West Jerusalem.

The protests across the US has been peaceful and largely respectful, but have been met by heavy-handed action from authorities. Police has arrested hundreds of students from their campuses. While the Columbia University has called off the classes for rest of the year and that online classes will be given to the students.

UT Austin, hundreds of protesting students met with the aggression from university's authorities, as it called in local and state police to disperse the protesting students. According to a news report by Aljazeera "hundreds of officers arrived at the scene, some on horseback. Holding batons, they charged at the crowds and forcefully arrested several students." The report said that, "at least 34 were taken into custody, the Texas Department of Public Safety said."

The report also states that "The Los Angeles Police Department said some 93 people were arrested in and around the USC campus."

Social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter) has flooded with the people posting about the campus protests and the crackdown by authorities, meanwhile some experts suggest that this way to quelling the protests will evoke more protests in the institutes, colleges and universities in the US.

Google employees protest:

Just a few days back Google faced protests against its technology being used by Israel to identify and target the Palestinians in Gaza, the protesting employees were fired and were arrested by Police.

This shows the US government, authorities, are not tolerating any anti-Israel voices in the “democratic” country.
