Its latest version is Block III (also referred to as JF-17C in some export contexts).

Block 3 introduced major upgrades including AESA radar, an advanced cockpit, and enhanced electronic warfare capabilities.

The Block III variant of the JF-17 Thunder is equipped with AESA radar, an improved head-up display, and advanced electronic warfare systems, significantly enhancing its combat capabilities.

CAC PAC jf 17 thunder

The JF-17 Thunder was jointly developed by the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) in Camra, and Chengdu Aircraft Corporation (CAC).

It is known as FC1 Shaolong or fierce dragon in China.

China led initial design and Pakistan played a key role in production and operational development.

PAC assembles and produces the JF-17 in Pakistan, with some imported components.

It is a modern fighter with advanced avionics, primarily based on Chinese technology with Pakistani collaboration.

China primarily produces it for export and does not widely operate it as a frontline fighter in its air force.

JF 17 thunder aircraft

It took its maiden flight on 2nd September 2003.

The JF stands for joint fighter.

The jet is equipped with advanced radar systems, enabling the use of beyond-visual-range (BVR) air-to-air missiles, like PF-15, and precision-guided air-to-ground weapons.

It can carry both guided and unguided bombs. It is equipped with a 23 mm internal cannon.

It has a top speed of around Mach 1.6 and is powered by a Russian RD-93MA afterburning turbofan engine.

The JF-17 costs around $20–35 million depending on the variant, making it significantly cheaper than newer F-16 models.

Its USP includes, Advanced radar, beyond visual range air-to-air and air-to-ground missiles.

JF 17 Pakistan

Pakistan inducted the JF-17 into the Pakistan Air Force in 2007, and it remains in active service.

Pakistan has seen growing interest of countries who are looking to acquire the JF-17 Thunder.

Due to its modern capabilities and relatively low cost, the JF-17 Thunder has attracted interest from a number of developing countries, with many ordering the jet, and others evaluating the aircraft.

Countries including Iraq, Bangladesh, Saudi Arabia and Indonesia, are reportedly considering JF 17 thunder.

The JF-17c variant is already operating in Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan is one only the fourth country which now operates JF-17, after Pakistan, Myanmar and Nigeria.

There have been reports suggesting possible interest from the Libyan National Army, but no confirmed contract has been officially announced.

Somalia is another country added to the long list of international buyers who are interested in the acquisition of the Pakistani Jf 17 thunder jet.

How many JF-17 produced

Around 140–160 aircrafts are produced so far, according to available data, the number of aircraft produced may change in coming years.

Pakistan's PAF has 150+ in service according to reports.

Another three countries are reported to have inducted or got first batch of the JF-17 confirmed, this include:

Myanmar, around 16 ordered (partial deliveries.)

Nigeria, 3 delivered.

Azerbaijan around 40 aircraft total (initial batch reportedly delivered).

Pakistan has ongoing discussions with around 13 countries that are interested in acquiring the jet, including:

Bangladesh, Indonesia, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Libya, Sudan, Morocco and Ethiopia
