Rohet Garh Fort History

The history of Rohet Garh dates back to 1622 AD, when the Jagir (estate) of Rohet was bestowed upon Thakur Dalpat Singh I by Maharaja Gaj Singh I of Marwar.

The grant recognised his bravery and distinguished service in numerous military campaigns under the Rathore banner.

According to family tradition, his exceptional courage in battle earned him an estate comprising 84 villages.

Over the centuries, Rohet Garh remained the ancestral residence of the Champawat Rathore family, whose generations contributed to the military, administration and social history of the Marwar region.

The historic property has retained its family heritage while gradually evolving into a hospitality destination.

In 1990, the family opened Rohet Garh to visitors as a heritage hotel, offering travellers an opportunity to experience its historic surroundings, traditional architecture and renowned Rajput hospitality.

The fort is a must-see for nature lovers — a peaceful haven with well-manicured lawns, peacocks roaming freely, and the gentle chirping of birds as the only sound.

The heritage hotel is adorned with beautiful Rajasthani handicrafts, hunting trophies, royal paintings, some of the finest Persian carpets, and elegant modern chandeliers, along with other contemporary facilities for guests.
