Permanent Ceasefire, Israel's withdrawal from Gaza strip, open of blockade, and hostage swap deal from both sides are some of the main negotiation points on the cards.

The Egypt's capital Cairo is hosting top representative bodies consisting of Qatar Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, US’s CIA Director William Burns, and delegations from Hamas and Israel for the latest round of negotiations for a truce in Gaza.

Israel-Hamas to reach a ceasefire?

According to a news report by Aljazeera, progress has been made towards all parties agreeing on basic points at truce talks in Cairo, Egypt’s Al Qahera news outlet is reporting, citing a senior Egyptian source. The report added that delegations from Hamas and Qatar have now left Cairo and will return within two days to agree on terms of a final agreement, while delegations from Israel and the US are expected to leave Cairo within hours. Consultations will continue over the next two days, the report added. Earlier, Israeli news outlet Haaretz reported that senior Israeli officials were participating in the talks in Cairo on Sunday, with a delegation from Hamas, the US’s CIA Director William Burns and Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani also present.

As a potential Iranian counterstrikes at Israel or Israeli targets is on the talks, after last week's Israeli attack on Iranian embassy in Syria, in which top ranking Iranian general and other top ranking figures were killed. The news of truce talks going well, and a result is expected in coming two days is, a sign relief for many, in a hope for a ceasefire and peace in the region.

Israel is facing global isolation as well as internal and external pressure amid its genocidal onslaught on the Gaza. The US, UK and many other top countries including Russia, China have called for a immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

Israel pulls major brigades out of Gaza's southern part:

The Israeli forces have reportedly withdrawn from Gaza's Khan Younis area, with only one brigade (brigade is typically made up of a 3 to 5 thousand soldiers.) left behind, stating that it has achieved the goals and now the personnel be used in other operations. Experts say the move might be a re-shuffle of personnel, meaning rest is given to soldiers active in the region and the other's take their place. The Israeli military said a “significant force led by the 162nd division and the Nahal brigade continues to operate in the Gaza Strip”.

According to report by Aljazeera Israel’s 98th Division, comprised of paratroopers from the army and the reserves, has pulled out of Gaza’s Khan Younis area after entering the enclave around four months ago to lead the ground offensive in the south of the Palestinian territory.

Hamas military wing al-Qassam Brigades announced that six Israeli soldiers were killed and others injured after being targeted in an ambush in the al-Zanna area east of Khan Younis in southern Gaza, and released a video. One of the report from almayadeen shared the alleged video's screenshot, showing Israeli soldiers getting targeted.

On the other hand the Palestinian Resistance claim its ambushes in Gaza's Khan Younis was the real reason behind Israeli forces pulled off of the region.

Israel says it has eliminated 19 out of 24 Hamas Battalion (one Battalion may consist of a thousand personnel) in Gaza, since the start of its war on the besieged enclave in October 2023.

Israel has flattened the Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza, and reports of massacre in the hospital as well as surrounding compound have made headlines around the world.

Northern Part of Gaza is facing dire humanitarian catastrophe as Israel's continues denials and squeezing of food and aid supply to the one of the worst hit battle zone. Many reports of civilians killed due to starvation, and malnutrition, including many children. Israel is facing allegations of using hunger as a weapon against Palestinians in Gaza.

Israel is facing internal pressure as well. The families of hostages held by Hamas are protesting against its government to get a hostage swap deal with Hamas and bring back their family members. While on the other hand, thousands of its citizens took to the streets in Tel Aviv demanding Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to step down from the position.
