Russian burevestnik all you need to know!

The Burevestnik missile is a Russian nuclear-powered, nuclear-armed cruise missile. It is also known as the 9M730 Burevestnik or the SSC-X-9 Skyfall by NATO.

The news came regarding the Burevestnik missile that some satellite images shown, it being in the preparations for deployment near a nuclear warhead storage site in Vologda.

This laid to various speculations and sent the alarming signs to the west and the United States.

The SSC-X-9 Skyfall was first introduced by Russian President Vladimir Putin in 2018, who called it as part of a new generation of advance version of "unconquerable weapons", that could flinch US missile defences and strike anywhere in the world.

The Burevestnik missile has a large range of 20,000 km, it could target locations all over the world from within Russia, according to the International Institute for Strategic Studies.

This is due to the special capability of the missile, the Burevestnik works with nuclear propulsion system, which potentially gives it unlimited range.

This enables it to fly in unpredictable paths and avoid existing missile defense systems.

The missile is designed to fly at low altitudes, which, combined with its unpredictable flight path, makes it difficult for conventional missile defense systems to detect and intercept.

The Burevestnik missile has been a mystery for the west, due to it being in secrecy for the most development and current status part. Experts believe if, successfully operationalized, would significantly shift the balance in global nuclear deterrence. Its ability to potentially bypass modern missile defenses by flying at lower altitudes for extended periods increases its threat potential.
